HESPERIA, Calif. The Jerry Lewis High Desert Government Center at 15900 Smoke Tree Street is one of seven San Bernardino County government locations scheduled to display green lights in recognition of veterans through November 11, 2026.

The county announced its participation in Operation Green Light for Veterans on November 5. The nationwide initiative seeks to recognize military service and remind veterans and their families that benefits assistance is available. The lighting is symbolic; the county’s separate Veterans Affairs services are the practical place to seek help with benefits questions.

Where else will the lights be seen?

The county identifies offices in San Bernardino, Joshua Tree, Apple Valley, Rancho Cucamonga and Chino Hills in addition to Hesperia. The locations include the Veterans Affairs Office at 222 Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino; the Joshua Tree district office at 63665 Twentynine Palms Highway; and the Apple Valley district office at 14955 Dale Evans Parkway. Those locations are part of the same countywide initiative, not separate lighting events that require tickets.

How residents can participate

The county encourages residents, community groups and local businesses to display one green light, indoors or outdoors, through November 11. Participating does not require purchasing a special county product or registering for a government program.

Where veterans can get actual assistance

Veterans and their families seeking support should contact San Bernardino County Veterans Affairs or call 866-472-8387. Staff can explain services and help direct residents to the appropriate benefits resources.
